How To Link Google AdWords, Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools with Different Logins

Linking Google AdWords, Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools accounts with logins that are different than the logins of the original account isn’t a simple process. Below, we’ve laid out the steps on how to link these Google Accounts together in a step by step format, along with the items you’ll need to complete the process.

Linking Google Analytics with Google AdWords:

Before you begin this process, log out of any instances of google accounts in the browser(s) you’ll be using.

Items you’ll need to link Google Analytics to Google AdWords

  • Administrative Google Analytics login of the account you are trying to link to the new AdWords Account.
  • Login Credentials to the new AdWords account.

Step by Step Instructions

  1. Login to Google Analytics with the administrative/owner login of the existing account.
  2. Choose the property you’d like to link to Google AdWords from the list of URLs in Google Analytics.
  3. Click on the “Admin” link in the main navigation in Google Analytics.
  4. Click on “User Management” at the “Property” level on the “Admin” page.
  5. Add the email of the new Google AdWords account you setup with “Edit” permissions.
  6. Go to “Property Settings” and ensure that “Enable Advertiser Features” has been turned to “On” and click “Save” at the bottom of the screen.
  7. Now, login to Google Analytics with the login information from the new Google AdWords account you created and click on “Admin” in the top navigation.
  8. In a new tab, log into Google AdWords with your new account login information and take note of the Customer ID in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
  9. Back in Google Analytics, in the “Property” list, click on “AdWords Linking”. After clicking “+New Link Group”, you should see the AdWords Customer ID for your AdWords account in the list.
  10. Ensure the right AdWords Customer ID is checked and click “Continue”.
  11. On the next screen, you have the opportunity to rename the “Link group title”.
  12. Choose the “View” you’d like to associate with the Google AdWords account. This step is important because it determines the data set you’ll be pulling from Google Analytics to AdWords.
  13. Advanced Settings: At this point, I’d leave “Enable auto-tagging on all linked AdWords accounts (recommended)” as the chosen value.
  14. Click “Link Accounts”.
  15. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Done”.
  16. Next go back to the Google AdWords tab in your browser and click on the Gear icon in the upper right hand corner of your screen and choose “Account Settings” from the dropdown menu.
  17. In the left navigation, click on “Linked Accounts”.
  18. Under the header, “Google Analytics”, click “View Details”.
  19. You should see the newly linked Google Analytics account. Click the “+” next to the account name until you see the web property you want to link to and click “Add”, “Save”, and “Yes, I Understand”. Congrats! Your Google Analytics will now import data into your Google AdWords and vice versa.

*If you see “Not available”, you may have missed a step from above. Retrace your steps and see what adjustment needs made.
